Scarface: An Ode to the Old Warrior

Photo: Peter Rettig

OH, MIGHTY King of Heart,

Thou 'unlioned' the land with the eternal adjournment of yours.

The passage of memory lane,

Now blank and voidance swelled-

Would now only heave the helpless sighs

Over your lofty farewell!

The lonely shades of Marsh, now staring the glance

At the patches, you wished to taste.

Time came to behold your fame

To take to the unseen Savannah,

"Rest Weary Warrior," rest!

Ah, King of Kings,

"The world is mourning your loss."

Your last days, embraced by peaceful sleep,

Not dispersed by the shattering calls

Yes, the King's glory had won the rambling toss!

Adieu, Scarface, have a smoother heavenly abode!

Bade the sinking sun of afternoon!

Hope there'll be the feline grace,

The Mara will behold your charming trace.

Adieu Scar, hope there to see you soon.

"I came, I saw, I conquered." - Yes he did indeed! One of the most accomplished and featured males of the Marsh Pride I have ever seen, prompting many wild hearts to assert him to be their most favourite one. Rest in peace, Scarface (2008 – 2021). In 2011, the Four Musketeers, comprising Scarface, Morani, Sikio and Hunter took over the Marsh Pride, overthrowing the ageing males Clawed and Romeo. In 2013, the vets provided with intense treatment for his injured eye. Later on, the Musketeers moved on and took over Paradise Pride, leaving room for the new males Askari (Rafiki) and Mpole (Karibu). Scarface lived a long life. Just shared a great memoir on him on my timeline lately. Hope he is in great condition in the "bigger Savannah upstairs", in his heavenly abode.

Being highly indebted to Sherrie Malcolm since the phrases "Rest Weary Warrior" and "The world is mourning your loss" is her coinage in a particular comment. Thanking Ralph Sibande for the coinage "unlined". Just love it!
