Towards "One Planet": A Tribute to Our Beloved Amitabha Guha (Ujaan Pathik)

NOW, LIKE every time, the moment came when the last page of 2020's diary was about to be turned and terminated. Did it turn out to be a 'happy' year? Was that true for it? Needless to say, how massively the pandemic swept away the normalcy of joviality! Still, let us consider it as an offer of recycling, presented to us by Nature herself. Certainly, "we shall overcome."

It all started when I came to be acquainted with Mrs Dipanwita Rakshit, whom I fondly call Dipa Aunty, just over a month ago. We germinated the genesis of this rendering together, backed up by three strong green minds. Shockingly sudden, unexpected, early, too early we had to let go our friend, illuminating guide and a compassionate guardian Amitabha Guha, our beloved Ujaan Pathik. His adjournment is shocking! Needless to say, what vacancy it ultimately rendered to those, who were close to his heart. Fortunately, my acquaintance with Amitabha Uncle had attained a sincere depth, although our introduction to each other had sprouted only three years ago. Our bonding just shows that time indeed does not fathom the innate world of a relationship. Like many others, the misfortune of his absence dawned upon me too. It is all about losing one guardian in life. Yet, the life activist, humanist, lover, jovial being is omnipresent– timeless, ongoing without his earthly presence. This feel and spirit of the intangible presence of him shaped a tangible form metaphoric this digital calendar of timelessness carrying his essence with the clicks through his lens. We can feel how Nature preoccupies us after a careful scanning of each page. And, She repeatedly reminds us about our responsibilities, which are endowed to us. As his innate essence was attuned to Nature, the rendering that is dedicated to him, also bears his radiance.

Those, who made this calendrical presentation a reality, do deserve a special mention and, I would love to recall them cordially. Thanks very much indeed Sneha (Sneha Biswas, Prabhat Kumar College, Contai) for taking the issue so heartily and, etch your valuable emotions regarding it. The rendering of yours, etched on the back cover featuring the baby olive ridley, already touched several hearts for its appeal. Indeed, nothing could have been more aptly befitting to designate the fine conversational style with the evergreen soul than your words. The way you devoted your time and, backed me up in every minute detailing and revision is phenomenal! Alone, I could not have been able to embark on such a journey. Besides, one name has turned out to be quite a significant one. This presentation incorporates almost every iconic eco-days, weeks, special years and decades. The authoritative sources of this information were duly provided by Pratim (Pratim Biswas, Presidency University). You have been the shape-giver of the anatomy of our beloved rendering. If two vital stand points ensure its identity firmly, those are your strong scientific and observational detailing and, Sneha's literary and artistic enhancement.

And of course, there is the name, who always enriched me with all the essential nourishment of mind- Dipanwita Aunty. The thought that you shared in one of our latest conversations, that this very rendering has merged our different belongingness to disparate provinces and, various Standard-Times. We are one indeed! And, we are endowed with the lofty responsibility to take care of Nature, our Mother.

The name "One Planet- for the Coming Ones" is germinated, nourishing his loving concern for Nature, the surroundings that we belong to; for the children- the sprouting ones and the generation that is yet to come. The conjurers of the coming days and years, for our only home– "One Planet".
